WHY ARE BLOOD DONATIONS NEEDED?
Similiar to humans in need of lifesaving blood transfusions, dogs can also benefit from donated blood given by an anonymous donor.
The lives of up to 3 critically ill dogs can be saved from just one unit of blood donated. Every year many dogs require treatment for a variety of life threatening situations. Transfusion of blood products may be needed to assist in the support of surgical procedures, cancer treatment, parvovirus, snake envenomations, toxicities and anaemia or bleeding disorders such as haemophelia.
